A New York Bishop is speaking out after the unthinkable happened. Bishop Lamor Whitehead took to Instagram live after about three armed Black men robbed him and his wife, Asia K. DosReis-Whitehead during a church service caught on the live stream. In the live, Bishop Whitehead thanked churchgoers, the NYPD, and others for all their calls of concern.
According to The NY Post, the man of God was in the middle of his sermon at the Leaders of Tomorrow International Ministries in Canarsie around 11:14 a.m, police said. On the live he explained the men robbed him, his wife, and possibly churchgoers of $400K worth of valuable jewelry. Reports detail some of the jewelry the Bishop was wearing at the time of the robbery: a long gold chain and a large ring on each finger.
As the live continued, he assured viewers this act of violence hadn’t scared him. “We’re pushing. We’re still doing what we need to do,” Bishop Whitehead said. “I’m not a person from the suburbs; I’m from Brooklyn, I’m from the city. I understand the streets. This bishop, I’m not scared.”
Although he isn’t scared, the women of the church are shaken up about the incident. He explained they are traumatized. While Bishop Whitehead was able to see the men’s faces thru the mask and identify the getaway vehicle, which was a white Mercedes Benz CLA. In addition to having the description, he shared that he ran after the suspects, where they hopped in the car and changed clothes.
If anyone asked anyone with information about the suspects, please come forward to the NYPD. Our thoughts are with those affected by this senseless act of crime.
