Bishop T.D. Jakes recently took the time to speak on domestic violence amid the resurfaced footage of Diddy assaulting Cassie in 2016.
The 66-year-old pastor addressed the topic during his recent sermon on Sunday, May 19. Jakes explained that he saw something on social media while coming to church.
“Then, a woman said to me, ‘Would you please pray for women who are living in danger in their own house?'” he explained. “And there was something about the way she said it… it was a cry for help.”
Jakes explained that when he “saw the images that have been floating over the news all week,” it became difficult for him “to watch.”
“The atrocious, degrading, demeaning, debauchery — I know who it was, but I saw my daughters,” he said. “As a man, I saw my daughters, and it made me angry… and I thought if it affected me like that as a man, how much more is that image a trigger for women who have been through that, who are currently going through that… and feel trapped in situations where you are being physically and emotionally and verbally abused?”
The pastor explained that domestic violence knows no boundaries and can go undetected. As Jakes went on, he encouraged anyone who is perpetrator of domestic violence to “get some help.”

Social media users reacted to Bishop T.D. Jakes’ statements in The Shade Room’s comment section.
Instagram user @itsmarvsims wrote, “A man who can control his anger is mightier than an entire city proverbs 16:32. In other words there is deep power in having self control. We cannot lead our lives with emotion.”
While Instagram user @mishloveee added, “The whole Sermon was 🔥🔥🔥❤️”
As The Shade Room previously reported, Diddy made headlines last week after surveillance footage surfaced of him abusing Cassie in 2016. Since then, social media users have collected clips from the music mogul’s 2022 BET Awards acceptance speech.
In the speech, Diddy specifically thanked the pastor alongside Cassie for “holding [him] down in the dark times.”
The clip and Diddy’s mention of the pastor prompted many reactions on social media, per The Shade Room.
However, this wasn’t the first time Diddy had publicly mentioned the pastor. Earlier this month, following the filing of multiple abuse, assault, and harassment lawsuits against him, the music mogul shared a video of T.D. Jakes speaking about how to remain “steady” in “the eye of a storm.”
