Birdman Speaks On 2024 Essence Fest Performance
According to PEOPLE, Birdman will perform at the 2024 Essence Fest, celebrating the 30th year of his record label Cash Money Records, coinciding with Essence Fest’s own 30th anniversary.
Before his highly anticipated performance, the music mogul told PEOPLE that everyone affiliated with Cash Money Records plans to participate in the milestone celebration and concert.
“Everybody you thinking of as far as Cash Money will be there. But, also a lot of people that started with me when we was young in the game. It’s going to be a great night,” Birdman said.
However, the rapper told the outlet that the one person he hopes will appear is Drake. Fans know that the Canadian rapper is signed to Lil Wayne’s Young Money Record label.
“We’re definitely looking forward to that and hoping that do happen. It’s a possibility. We made this a family thing, but Drake, we’re close friends. He one of us.”
The record executive also disclosed that another special guest will be rapper B.G, who was recently released from prison. B.G is the rapper behind the 1999 hit song, ‘Bling, Bling.’
“We’re all excited to have B.G. home after doing 13 years in the penitentiary. It’s his first time touching anybody’s stage so that’s exciting,” Birdman continued.
Birdman Celebrates Major Accomplishments
Birdman’s milestone with Cash Money Records and headlining at Essence Fest aligns with his honor by YouTube during BET Awards weekend in June. PEOPLE also revealed that he recently had a street named after him in his hometown of New Orleans.
In an interview with the outlet, Birdman also emphasized that he has no intention of slowing down or retiring anytime soon.
“I feel like once you start getting honored, you’re finished with it and I’m not finished with it. I’m far from finished.”
