Big Sean always gives back to his community #Roommates, but this time he really out did himself. The rapper revealed that he’s partnered up with Emagine to build a top-of-the-line movie theatre in Detroit.
According to Detroit Free Press, the theatre is expected to open its doors in 2020. This theatre won’t just be any ordinary theatre because it’ll have a 300 seat auditorium which will serve as a multi-function venue. It’ll also feature 10 to 12 screens, according to Hot New Hip Hop.
“There is no major movie theater in the city of Detroit — this makes no sense to me,” Sean said in a statement, “I feel that it is necessary to build a theater in the city, not only because of the joy and inspiration movies will bring to people’s lives, but I hope this theater will become a hub of creativity — a place for intimate concerts, lectures, meetings, and other events,” he said in a statement.
Co-founder of Emagine, Paul Glantz, said that they have yet to secure a location but will have it locked down by the end of the year. He says the theatre will be in an area that is constantly overlooked, and with their efforts, will help combat this issue.
