Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory May See Freedom In 2025 If New Early Release Request Is Approved

Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory‘s newest attorney, Brittany K. Barnett, is petitioning for her client’s early release.

According to HipHopDX, the attorney officially filed an early release petition on Flenory’s behalf because he now qualifies for new sentencing guidelines. Barnett also argued the former alleged drug lord is no longer a threat to society.

Big Meech’s Attorney Fights For His Freedom

The Eastern District of Michigan received the motion from Barnett on Wednesday (January 3), according to documents obtained by HipHopDX. The attorney demanded a “retroactive application” of the sentencing guidelines from the court.

The attorney insists the former alleged kingpin is reformed, but it is up to a judge to decide. The legal advisor emphasized Meech’s eagerness for education, citing he earned a GED and is excelling in additional prison classes.

Furthermore, the Black Mafia Family (BMF) founder has not been reprimanded in prison since 2021, HipHopDX reports. Additionally, Meech shared his plans to launch a new initiative called ‘Build More Families’ and has volunteered for various community activities.

Additionally, the U.S.S.G. shaved time off Meech’s sentence according to  Amendment 782. The 55 year-old is scheduled to be released in 2025. His initial release date was in 2031. A judge has yet to rule on the mater.

Meech’s Alleged Money Making Past & Prison History

According to Detroit News, Big Meech — born Demetrius Flenory — is serving a 30-year bid at Oregon’s Sheridan FCI for managing one of the vastest money laundering and drug trafficking rings in Detroit history.

The Feds took down the Detroit baller in 2007 after he allegedly began distributing drugs in the late 1990s. Reportedly, Meech earned $270 million from his narcotics venture.

Big Meech’s brother, Terry “Southwest T” Flenory, was sentenced to 25 years in federal prison. However, due to coronavirus being a risk to Southwest’s health, he was granted compassionate release. In April 2020, he began served the remainder of his time confined at home.

Although Meech attempted to use the same argument, he was denied four times.

Will Big Meech be released early or be forced to wait until 2025? Either way, Lil Meech‘s dad will be home earlier than expected.
