The Carters are continuing their initiatives to help support historically black colleges and universities, and this time they are teaming up with Tiffany & Co. to pledge a total of $2 million to five colleges.
Jay-Z working through his Shawn Carter Foundation, and Beyoncé working through her BeyGood organization, the funding in scholarships will be for students who are studying in the arts and creative fields. The “About Love” scholarship will be awarded to students who attend Norfolk State University, Bennett College, University of Arkansas Pine Bluff, Lincoln University, and Central State University.
Recently Beyoncé and Jay-Z were featured in Tiffany & Co.’s “About Love,” campaign as they were announced as the company’s new brand ambassadors.
Dr. Brenda A. Allen, the President, Lincoln University said, “We would like to thank the Shawn Carter Foundation, BeyGOOD, The Carters, and the Tiffany & Co. family for including Lincoln University in this amazing gift. Over the years, we have developed a wonderful partnership being a part of The Shawn Carter Foundation HBCU Bus Tour. Lincoln has placed a high priority on supporting the arts and humanities on our campus. Providing financial support for students pursuing these majors enhances their ability to more fully engage their studies.”
This is of course not the Caters’ first time giving back in the name of education. Back in 2018, the couple took more than $1 million from the ticket sales from their “On The Run II Tour” and created a scholarship fund to award 11 students. Beyoncé has also helped to place the spotlight on HBCUs throughout the past few years following her headlining performance at Coachella and has given back to various schools in different ways.
