After the success of the New Edition Story, it looks like BET is ready to work on another project based on another musical great.
According to Deadline, the network has ordered the pilot to ‘Street Dreams,’ an hour-long series based on the life of Nas. The series will take place in New York City during the 1990’s, the project was named after Nas’ “Street Dreams,” single released back in 1996.
Based on the series’ synopsis, it will, “track the ascent of Nas, a young man from the Queensbridge projects who will go on to become a famous rapper, as he evolves from young man to crack dealer to rapper to adult.”
Jonathan Levine penned the script, and he will also serve as the director for the pilot, as well as an executive producer alongside Nas.
Two years ago the project was set to be apart of Xbox Entertainment Studios as an hour and a half long comedy.
As of now no cast members have been announced.
