Recently a Best Buy location in Houston was accused of selling cases of Dasani water for $42.96.
Once a photo of the cases of water hit social media, it didn’t take long before it went viral, and as you can imagine the store was hit with tons of backlash. With the recent events due to Hurricane Harvey, many people tweeted Best Buy demanding that they make a change.
According to CNBC, Best Buy apologized in a statement, which read, “This was a big mistake on the part of a few employees at one store on Friday. As a company we are focused on helping, not hurting affected people. We’re sorry and it won’t happen again. Not as an excuse but as an explanation, we don’t typically sell cases of water. The mistake was made when employees priced a case of water using the single-bottle price for each bottle in the case.”
The store is not known to usually sell cases of water, but individual bottles at the checkout counter.
