Barbie Honors Rosa Parks And Sally Ride With Their Own Dolls On Women’s Equality Day

Yesterday, Barbie launched two new dolls in honor of Women’s Equality Day. The two dolls that were launched were Rosa Parks and Sally Ride. Both dolls are a continuation of the brand’s “Inspiring Women’s Series,” which launched on International Women’s Day back in 2018.

According to CNN, a spokesperson spoke about the release of the new dolls and said, “Both Sally Ride and Rosa Parks made the world better for future generations of girls. By celebrating their achievements with dolls made in their likeness, we hope girls will be inspired to pursue their dreams.”

The spokesperson continued, “Women’s Equality Day celebrates the hard-won achievement of women’s suffrage and pays tribute to the trailblazers who paved the way for future generations.”

As many of you know, Rosa Parks has been coined the Mother of the Civil Rights Movement as she helped to fight for equality for the African American community. Sally Ride was the first American woman, and youngest American to fly into space.

The other dolls that were previously a part of the “Inspiring Women’s Series,” were Amelia Earhart, Katherine Johnson, and Frida Kahlo.

Back in March, Barbie launched their “Shero” collection, which honored stars such as Yara Shahidi and Naomi Osaka.
