A lot of people are giving Bank of America the side eye after reports came out that the company was out here freezing customer accounts over citizenship questions.
According to the Huff Post, “numerous customers claim they’ve been locked out of their accounts after failing to answer questions about their citizenship or provide some type of documentation that would be accepted.”
What’s interesting about this is that the bank hasn’t denied the allegations. The bank says “it asks account holders about their country of citizenship in order to comply with country-specific sanctions and routinely conducts outreach to ensure information is up to date.”
