According to the New York Post, on August 1, Artola joined three of her friends on a rooftop in La Tinta. The group was reportedly taking pictures and “practicing dance moves” on the two-story building when Artola allegedly hit a “high-tension power cable.”
The outlet reports that volts from the cable “instantly” shocked her, “likely” leading to her passing.
Furthermore, New York Post reports that footage of the incident surfaced on social media. A video reportedly shows Artola’s body resting on the cable before it’s later seen falling to the street. Amid the ordeal, the outlet notes that Artola’s head is seen separating from her body.
According to the outlet, Artola’s mother, Andrea Xi, paid tribute to her daughter via multiple posts shared on Facebook.
“I love you forever. My princess,” one of her posts reportedly read.
Meanwhile, an individual named Yane Valdes has organized a fundraiser via GoFundMe to support Artola’s family. In a description of the fundraiser, Valdes asserted that the campaign was launched to “carry justice and start the legal process to make the people responsible for Debora’s death face justice.” To note, The New York Post has also cited an ongoing investigation into the matter.
“My name is Yane and I am a friend of the mother… The reason behind this campaign is to be able to bring closure to the family, to be able to carry justice and start the legal process to make the people responsible for Debora’s death face justice,” Valdes wrote. “Debora was a healthy and happy teenager who was enjoying the company of their friends. The authorities in Guatemala have claimed that it was a negligence accident but multiple witness disagree. Debora had to be pushed in order to reach the high voltage cables that severe her head and ended her life.”
As The Shade Room previously reported, Jared James Dicus, a man in Texas, is now behind bars after he admitted to decapitating his wife in January 2023.
Dicus and 21-year-old Anggy Diaz had reportedly tied the knot in October 2022. However, in the following year, Texas authorities found Diaz “dead and decapitated and dismembered” in Dicus’s family cabin.
Furthermore, the man was reportedly sentenced to 40 years in prison.
