Roommates, social media is in a frenzy after a 16-year-old girl was abducted on the street right in front of her terrified mother. Authorities are searching for the men responsible, and video of the shocking incident has surfaced online.
According to New York Daily News, Karol Sanchez was walking down a Bronx street last night, when a beige four-door sedan pulled up beside her and her mother. Four men were reportedly in the van, two of whom shoved her mother to the ground, and threw Karol into the van.
The shocking incident reportedly took about 10 seconds, and it is unclear if there were any witnesses at the scene. Karol’s mother was not hurt, but was unable to save her daughter, as the van sped off very quickly.
Investigators have reportedly concluded that Karol did not know her kidnapers, and the NYPD has issued an Amber Alert to find her.
Other parents in the neighborhood, however, have expressed great concern following the incident in the Bronx.
“I always take he to school and pick her up,” said Joy Bates, a parent in the neighborhood. “Hopefully nothing like that…I might get kidnapped too.”
Even children in the neighborhood are frightened, and are listening to the warnings of the adults around them.
“My cousin told me, ‘Don’t say a word. Don’t walk near a curb. Be careful for vans that look suspicious,'” said 11-year-old Paige Innis.
The men wanted for questioning in the case are described as four adult males in their 20s with dark complexions. All of the men were wearing dark clothing.
Anyone with information is asked to all the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) .
