Momma Ashanti said, “Not on my watch,” after a host attempted to congratulate her for her daughter’s rumored pregnancy.
Tina Douglas, the singer’s mom-ager, corrected the host during a panel discussion, HotNewHipHop reports.

What Did The Host Say?
Douglas was sitting on a panel when the host said, “And congratulations, Ashanti’s having a baby. So congratulations, grandma.”
She responded, “There’s been no announcement. It hasn’t come out yet. So, until I hear it from Ashanti and Nelly…”
“Oh, I thought it was public,” the host interjected. “Oh my bad.”
Douglas corrected her, “Oh it is public. Don’t get it twisted.”
“Oh okay. okay. okay. okay.” the host responded.
“But it hasn’t been officially announced. Until then,” Ashanti’s mom said as she playfully flipped her hair.
Roomies React To The Clip
Ashanti and rapper Nelly have yet to confirm or deny speculation of their pregnancy.
Under our IG report, @imkandiss quipped, “I know she called her mama and said ‘maaaa.'”
Others noted that Douglass pretty much made the announcement herself.
@pinkjettson said, “So basically you just confirmed she’s pregnant.”
“Correcting the announcement while announcing lol,” @teamster_ added.
@janieb_ wrote, “Women should be able to announce when they’re pregnant on their own. Famous or not.”
Ashanti & Nelly’s Rekindled Romance
As previously reported, in December 2023, the two seemingly announced their pregnancy at Nelly’s “Black and White” ball in St. Louis, Illinois. At the event, Nelly rubbed Ashanti’s stomach as if there was a bun in the oven.
In September 2023, Nelly confirmed he and Ashanti were an item again after they broke up in 2013. They dated for 10 years.
The rapper told Rasheeda Frost on her ‘Boss Moves with Rasheeda’ series, “Yeah. We cool again.”
The couple was a fan favorite in the 2000s and many championed their reconciliation.
