In very sad new this morning, we hear that one of the A$AP founders Steven “A$AP Yams” Rodriguez has passed away. While details are scarce right now ,fellow A$AP Mob members and friends shared the news via Twitter and Instagram. Born to a Dominican mother and a Puerto Rican father, Yams, whose real name is Steven Rodriguez, grew up at the southern edge of Harlem.
I met this young man in 2012. He was one of the key members in securing a Sony/RCA record deal,$1.7 million for the solo output of A$AP Rocky and $1.3 million to fund the group label called A$AP Mob.
One of his group members hinted that his cause of death may be linked to some kind of substance but it has not been confirmed.
