Armed Man Allegedly Demanded Roscoe’s Employees To Give Him All Of Their Chicken & Waffles After He Was Denied Service For Not Wearing A Mask

Police are searching for an armed man who held up a Southern California Roscoe’s House of Chicken and Waffles for its food and not the cash after he was denied service for not wearing a mask.

According to ABC 7 LA, the man tried to get some grub at the famed waffle spot’s Pasadena location. When employees refused to serve him because he wasn’t wearing a mask, police said he left then returned with a gun and demanded all the chicken and waffles they could give him and ran off.

The incident happened Wednesday evening and police say the suspect remains at large. Employees said they told the man he could return if he was wearing a mask but instead, he allegedly showed up at the back of the restaurant with a gun.

At first, Roscoe’s staff admitted they were confused as to what he wanted because the cash registers were in front. Then the restaurant’s cook alleged the gunman walked toward him and demanded he put “all the chicken in the bag.”

Employees told police the suspect demanded they turn over food – chicken, waffles, syrup – to him. No word on exactly how much food he was able to grab, but the man ran off.

“He didn’t take any cash,” manager Angela Prieto said. “He actually took chicken and before he walked out the door he took syrup for his chicken.”

“They were feeling scared, especially my cashier,” Prieto said. “She was very, very scared. And when I first talked to her she was basically hysterical, but after a while she calmed down and started laughing about it because she realized all he did was take some chicken.”

Thankfully no one was injured.

Surveillance video captured the suspect’s face because he still wasn’t wearing a mask.

Police agencies in and around Pasadena have shared his image in hopes that the suspected chicken robber will be identified. We’ll keep you posted.
