Ari Lennox Takes To Instagram To Celebrate “7 Months Sober”
On Tuesday, the 32-year-old singer took to Instagram to share pictures of herself in a gray tank top and black shorts. Additionally, Lennox explained to her fans that she was officially celebrating seven months of sobriety.
Lennox explained that the milestone marks “a lot of sober conversations” and “a lot of facing things raw and head on.” She also explained that she doesn’t know how she will feel once she reaches a year of sobriety.
“7 months sober. That’s a lot of sober flights. A lot of sober conversations. A lot of facing things raw and head on. Honestly I don’t know what will happen when I reach a year sober…”
Additionally, the singer added that she’s uncertain if she will pursue a lifelong sobriety journey. However, she is enjoying the changes the newfound state brings to her life.
“Don’t know if sobriety is forever or not but I can’t imagine going back to how things were. Passing out in the airport or having my emotions more heightened than needed smh s**t was bad. I feel more in control of my emotions. More stable. More happy. More alert. More safe. More accepting of things I can’t control and more responsible with things I can…”
The Singer Revealed That She Is Sober From Alcohol
As Lennox continued in her written caption, she explained that she doesn’t “find interest in partying anymore.” Additionally, she shared that maybe she’s “changing and that’s deeper than alcohol.”
“I don’t find interest in partying anymore :/ maybe I’m changing and that’s deeper than alcohol. I like doing chill sweet things…”
From there, Lennox reflected on her not-so-great moments with liquor. She explained that she would previously suffer from “night terrors” and “panic attacks.” However, since becoming sober, she’s developed “healthier” coping mechanisms and feels it’s “nice to remember events as they are happening.”
“I like waking up with no hangover or embarrassment. I like waking up with no night terrors and panic attacks from liquor. I’m so raw feeling everything in this world and my coping mechanisms are only healthier now. It’s nice to remember events as they are happening. It’s nice to be present.”
Lennox then ended her post by explaining that alcohol does help one “escape all the intense stress of the world.” However, the feeling is only temporary.
“But yea sure there’s the fantasy of wanting to escape all the intense stress of the world with alcohol cause boy does it work temporarily. But there’s the moment the liquor stops numbing and you’re chasing that feeling to no avail and you wake to see the problems of life still there…”
Before hopping off, Lennox asked her followers to share their experiences with sobriety, adding that she loves them all “so much.”
