Roommates, if you’re like me and have the tendency to misplace important things like your keys and Driver’s License, you’ll be happy to learn of this Apple update! The good folks at Apple are always working to give us some of the best features on the iPhone that we don’t realize we need! Through the Wallet feature, Apple is about to help many of us save time in the airport when we go through security checkpoints.
According to reports from Yahoo Finance, iPhone users can say “goodbye” to the hassle of digging in their wallets to pull out their Driver’s License before entering the TSA (Transportation Security Administration) security checkpoints in airports. Individuals with iOS 15 can use their Apple Wallet to store driver’s licenses, just like it does credit cards.
The digital version of your driver’s license will function just like a physical license and be accepted at TSA checkpoints. “The Transportation Security Administration is working to enable airport security checkpoints as the first place customers can use their digital Identity Card in Wallet,” stated Apple. To make the user experience even better, Apple and the TSA are also working on another feature that will automatically pull up the information through one scan on the iPhone. This will assist flyers in moving quickly through the security checkpoint.
Now y’all know that Apple doesn’t just throw features out to users without proper testing. The company has been perfecting this technology to support IDs and passports for at least a year. When the feature goes live later this year, it will only be available for those in participating US states. Apple has yet to say which states are interested.
Chile, Apple is applying pressure! The wallet will also be encrypted. The iOS 15 is also holding down the folks who lose their work badges. The Wallet will also support work badges and some hotel keys at participating venues. Hold up! iPhone will be able to unlock compatible smart locks, too. Roommates, are ya’ll ready for this?
