Apparently You Can’t Laugh While On A Wine Train, 11 Women Escorted Off For “Laughing Too Loud”

I guess #pettywapwednesday is early this week! A group of sistahs got together to have some drinks on the Napa Valley Wine Train, but it wasn’t long until the manager had the women escorted off of the train and into the arms of police for laughing too loud (*read #LaughingWhileBlack)!

Lisa Johnson said that the experience was humiliating and, “It was a bizarre thing for all of us.” She also said that she felt that her group was “singled out”, so now, all 11 women are demanding a public apology from the Napa Valley Wine Train Company for publicly shaming them.
A spokeswoman for the Napa Valley Wine Train Company, Kira Devitt, explained that the company had “received complaints from several parties in the same car and after three attempts from staff, requesting that the group keep the noise to an acceptable level.”
According to Raw Story, Johnson said the women were enjoying the wine and scenery when a manager came and told them to “quiet down.” “The train is set up to be with your friends, to drink wine and have a good time. We were thinking, who are we offending?”

The only thing I’d be offending is my alcohol tolerance! Napa Valley should know that they’re setting themselves up by hosting “wine trains” anyway. People just want to turn up!

Eventually, the manager told the ladies that it just wasn’t working out. He arranged for the women to get off of the train and handed them over to officers from the Napa Valley Railroad Police and the St. Helen Police Department. “People were looking at us,” Johnson said. “To get escorted into the hands of waiting police officers. That’s the humiliating part.”

Luckily, none of the women were taken into custody or anything, but they’re pissed! Leave it up to Black Twitter to start the #LaughingWhileBlack hashtag to bring awareness to such a level of pettiness as this. Roommates, have you ever been racially discriminated against? Tell us your stories!
