Congrats are in order to Anthony Anderson who is now officially a graduate of Howard University. The veteran actor shared that he graduated from the illustrious HBCU over the weekend.
On Sunday, Anthony shared videos and photos from his graduation and said that his degree was “30 years in the making.” He also thanked his son for inspiring him to return to school to complete his degree.
“Words can’t begin to describe the emotional roller coaster I’m on right now. It’s literally been 30 years in the making. This spring I was finally able to complete the work to graduate from Howard University with a BFA degree from the Chadwick A Boseman College of Fine Arts,” he said. “Things happen when they’re supposed to happen! I’d like to thank Dr. Wayne Fredrick, Dean Phylicia Rashad, Dean Denise Saunders Thomas, and Courtney Bless Long for helping to make this happen for me! It takes a village.”
Anthony previously shared that he dropped out of school after running out of money following his junior year.
Back in 2018, while on “The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon,” Anthony spoke about dropping his son off at Howard for his freshman year. He then shared that he had spoken with the university’s president about creating a curriculum for him to take online, and practical on-campus classes so that he could graduate with his son in 2022.
At the time he said, “So I have four years to finish one year of college…that’s my plan.”
