Last year legendary songstress Anita Baker took to social media to ask her supporters not to stream her music as she fought to get ownership of her masters. A few months later she shared that fans were now able to stream her music after getting things worked out with her masters. During a recent show, she shared that Chance The Rapper had a role in making that happen.
Over the weekend, during her show at the Palazzo in Las Vegas, Anita took the time to share that Chance helped when it came to her regaining control of her masters.
She said, “Would you guys say hello to a friend of mine, by a way of the music industry, and by a way of helping me to get a hold and ownership of my masters recordings. Mr. Chance The Rapper is right there.”
Chance then proceeded to stand and wave as the crowd applauded.
After the show, Chance tweeted out and said, “I saw one of THE greatest performances of my LIFETIME last night! Thank you so much @IAMANITABAKER for being an inspiration and an icon to so many of US.”
Anita responded, “Had no idea you would be in our Midst. Such a nice Surprise. Brought Tears, to my eyes. Hope Ms. Essence enjoyed her Birthday.”
