Last year fans said goodbye to the popular singing competition, American Idol, after 15 seasons on the air.
The show has been known to place the spotlight on some incredible singers that include, Fantasia, Jennifer Hudson, Jordin Sparks and many others. Now it looks like the singing competition will make its return to television after one year.
According to Variety, ABC has a deal in place to revive the singing competition with a possible premiere date for March 2018, and this time it will potentially air on Sunday nights.
In the past, the network has reportedly struggled on Sunday nights against other networks like Fox and NBC, who have packages with the NFL for Sunday Night Football.
TMZ reports that ABC has reportedly closed its deal and is planning to officially announce the singing competition at the Upfronts in a week. Sources also revealed that the network along with the co-owners of the show is reportedly interested in Ryan Seacrest returning to host the show.
Earlier this week Ryan Seacrest was announced as Kelly Ripa’s new co-host.
