AMC Theaters Planning To Accept Dogecoin & Other Forms Of Cryptocurrency By The End Of The Year

As cryptocurrency becomes a thing that appears to be here to stay, it is starting to be brought up in several aspects of life. Outside of stocks and trading, cryptocurrency is slowly making its way to be used to make purchases at different retailers, and it looks like one of the largest movie theater chains in the world is looking to shake the industry. How do you ask? By accepting different methods of cryptocurrency for payment.

AMC’s CEO Adam Aron took to his Twitter recently and created a poll asking consumers who regularly engage with cryptocurrency if they thought the company should start accepting Dogecoin for online payments. Over 140,000 people, 77% of poll participants, voted in favor of accepting the cryptocurrency. To Adam’s surprise, Elon Musk also liked the poll. “Never thought I would see this day. @ElonMusk liked my Dogecoin Twitter Poll tweet. If you happen to see this tweet too, Mr. Musk, congratulations on Tesla and SpaceX,” Adam tweeted.

“I have strived to be an innovator my entire career, but you, sir, are the epitome of innovation above all others.” If you’re not familiar with Elan’s influence, Tesla’s founder has helped Dogecoin, a “meme token,” surge in popularity in recent months. Along with billionaire Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, he and Elon are some of the most prominent backers. A single Dogecoin is currently worth about 22 cents, an increase of more than 8,000% over the last year, according to crypto trading platform Coinbase.

With the excitement behind Adam’s tweet and the most engaging tweet he ever made, the CEO decided to make a bold declaration. In 24 hours, the tweet received 4.2 million views, his most ever retweets and replies. He declared that the company would accept Dogecoin. The movie retailer is planning on also letting customers use currencies including Ethereum, Litecoin, Bitcoin, and Bitcoin Cash by the end of the year.

Roomies, are yall excited?
