Amanda Bynes was placed on a psychiatric hold after calling 911 upon finding herself roaming the streets naked.
An eyewitness told TMZ the former “Amanda Show” star flagged down a car early Sunday Monday without any clothes, telling the driver she was coming down from a psychiatric episode.
The 36-year-old was transported to a nearby police station, where a mental health staffer determined she needed to be placed on a 5150 hold – meaning involuntarily detained for a 72-hour psychiatric hospitalization – and remains in a facility’s care as of Monday.
While the hold typically lasts 72 hours, it can be extended based on a patient’s need or if they’re a danger to themselves and others.
Page Six reports that Bynes’ attorney didn’t immediately return for their request for comment.
Her episode comes just about a year to the day after she was freed from her 9+ year long conservatorship.
On March 7, Bynes herself posted a short Instagram video thanked for for their “love and support.:
Her parents supported her campaign for freedom from the conservatorship, of which her mother was conservator but her father was considered an interested party in the case.
After the conservatorship’s termination, Bynes’ lawyers told People magazine that she was “doing very well” and had been looking forward to moving in with her then-fiancé, Paul Michael.
But the couple split in July 2022, months after she publicly accused him of using crack coaine and watching “mom-and-son porn,” Page Six reports.
Bynes’ later went on to say she caught him watching “MILF” porn and not necessarily “mom-and-son” content. However she maintains her claim that he relapsed back into drug use.
Meanwhile, she had appeared to be thriving recently, and even enrolled in cosmetology school to become a manicurist, according to the outlet.
