Actor Tituss Burgess Planning To Bring ‘The Preacher’s Wife’ To Broadway

We all remember the classic 1996 film, “The Preacher’s Wife.” It starred the late and great Whitney Houston, Denzel Washington and Courtney B. Vance.

Now the film may possibly be turned into a Broadway play.

According to Deadline, actor and singer Tituss Burgess, who is known for his role on the Netflix sitcom, “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt,” is looking to turn the film into a Broadway play. He also has experience on Broadway, which include the plays “Guys And Dolls” and “The Little Mermaid.”

Burgess composed the score for the play and Daniel Beaty wrote the script. Singer Ledsi will accompany Burgess, along with Loretta Devine (who also starred in the film) at an investors audition later this month.

The films synopsis is about a couple, Reverend Henry Biggs (Vance) and Julia Biggs (Houston) who face marital issues as a result of their church facing financial issues. An angel named Dudley (Washington) appears and helps both the family and the church move back into a great space by reminding them the importance of love, family and God.

Roommates would you be interested in seeing this film as a Broadway play?
