‘Abbott Elementary’ Renewed For A Second Season At ABC

The new ABC comedy “Abbott Elementary,” has quickly become a fan favorite, and it looks like there will be more classes in session as ABC has announced that the show has been renewed for a second season.

The news was announced on Monday, in a letter that was released by Principal Ava Coleman, who is played by Janelle James on the show. The show, which is focused on an underfunded elementary school in Philadelphia, has shined a light on the real-life elementary schools that are placed in the same situation, and the teachers who work hard to make sure their children succeed.

According to Deadline, the show has become ABC’s No. 1 new comedy in two years in adults 18-49, and the season’s No. 1 comedy in adults 18-49.

As previously reported, it was recently announced that the show along with ABC has teamed up with Scholastic Books to provide underfunded schools with free book fairs throughout the country this month. ABC also announced that they will provide teachers with supplies, breakfast, and merchandise from the show as a part of their traveling Teacher’s Lounge initiative.

The show, which was created and written by Quinta Brunson, focuses on her character Janine Teagues, who is a second-grade teacher at Abbott Elementary. The documentary-style comedy series chronicles what Janine and her co-workers go through to benefit the education of their students. The show also stars Sheryl Lee Ralph, Tyler James Williams, Lisa Ann Walter, and Chris Perfetti.

New episodes of “Abbott Elementary,” return to ABC on March 22nd.
