#TSRTakeAMoment: Let’s send our thoughts and prayers to the families of the victims of a shooting this morning at a drugstore distribution center in #HartfordCounty, Maryland, about 30 miles outside of #Baltimore.
A woman fatally shot three people at a #RiteAid distribution center before shooting herself twice. The woman is in critical condition at a hospital while in police custody, @CNN reports.
A source close to the investigation told CNN that the woman was a disgruntled employee, but officials have not disclosed the woman’s ties to the business, or a motive for the shooting. The source said she allegedly shot herself in the head in an apparent suicide attempt, but was unsuccessful, so she shot herself again.
She has not been identified.
Sheriff #JeffreyGahler said at a news conference that the woman used a single handgun. No law enforcement officers fired shots during their response, nor were they shot at.
Rite Aid spokeswoman Susan Henderson said about 1,000 employees work at the distribution center, where products are received and processed for delivery.
“The shooting happened adjacent to the primary building,” Henderson said. “What I understand is the location is secure.”
Witnesses say the shooting occurred in what is a normally quiet area, which is home to many warehouses and plants, some of which belong to major brands. People were asked to avoid the area despite the fact that homes, churches and a cemetery are in the vicinity.
Today’s shooting marks the third shooting with multiple victims in the country in the span of a day. A shooting at an office complex in Middleton, Wisconsin, left three people injured Wednesday and later in the day, a gunman injured four people at the Masontown Borough Municipal Center in Pennsylvania. Police killed the shooters in both Wednesday incidents.
We’ll keep you updated on the latest, #Roommates.
