An arrest warrant has been issued for Gervonta Davis in Virginia where cops say he allegedly assaulted a man at a high-end mall.
Authorities investigated and decided that there was enough evidence to arrest him following the alleged fight that happened on February 17. The whole scuffle reportedly went down at an ATM machine, according to @tmz_tv.
Cops said Gervonta assaulted the man and when officers arrived at the scene to investigate, he allegedly popped off on the officers! Police said Gervonta “directed derogatory and offensive language at the officers in a public setting.”
One witness at the scene said that he watched Gervonta shove one of the officers while he screamed obscenities. His friends are clearly real ones because they reportedly tried to “desperately” restrain Gervonta before he made matters worse.
Their efforts were clearly not enough because after the police completed their investigation, they still decided to issue a warrant for Gervonta’s arrest on one misdemeanor count of assault.
The charge carries a maximum penalty of one year in jail and a $2,500 fine, which is chump change for a professional boxer, but it sounds like Gervonta may not even be sweating the charge.
According to a Fairfax County Police Department spokesperson, there have been multiple attempts to reach Gervonta to inform him of his warrant but they have all been unsuccessful.
Authorities are hoping Gervonta reaches out to them soon to clear this whole mess up.
In case y’all need a quick brush-up on Gervonta’s boxer stats, he is 21-0 as a pro fighter and is already a 2-time super featherweight world champ.
So, Gervonta should clear things up and get back to fighting in the ring instead of these streets.
We’ll keep you updated on this story, Roommates.
