It looks like a reboot of the classic “Sister Act” films is getting a reboot and coming to Disney’s new streaming service, Disney+.
According to Variety, “Insecure” executive producer Regina Hicks, and #Star showrunner Karin Gist are teaming up to pen the sequel for Disney’s streaming service.
Plot details for the new “Sister Act” are being kept under wraps, but we all know the original starred Whoopi Goldberg as Deloris Van Cartier who goes into witness protection at a convent and pretends to be a nun. The first film dropped in 1992, and the sequel released 1993 and showcased Goldberg as a music teacher.
A rep for Goldberg said to Entertainment Weekly, “It is our understanding that this is not a continuation and Whoopi is not involved.”
Back in September, Goldberg mentioned the different direction the “Sister Act” franchise would be taking this time around.
She said on Good Morning Britain, “We’ve been all over Disney begging and they’ve decided that they’re going to go in a different direction with Sister Act. So it won’t be Sister Act 3, it’ll be a brand-new rendition of Sister Act. And I guess I’ll walk through a scene and that’s how they’ll say I was part of it.”

As we previously reported, “Lady And The Tramp” is another reboot that will be added to Disney’s new streaming service, which is scheduled to launch in 2019.
