A Selena Scripted Series Is Coming To Netflix!

The story of the late and great Selena Quintanilla is coming to Netflix.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the streaming service is joining forces with the singer’s family to tell her life story.

Netflix handed out a straight-to-series order for “Selena: The Series,” which has been described as a coming of age story. At the moment neither a premiere date nor episode count has been determined, therefore at moment, it is unknown if the series will be an hour or half-hour.

Selena’s sister, Suzette Quintanilla said in a statement, “Selena will always have a lasting place in music history and we feel a great responsibility to do justice to her memory. With this series, viewers will finally get the full history of Selena, our family, and the impact she has had on all of our lives. We are excited to partner with Campanario and Netflix to give fans a never-before-seen glimpse at our story and highlight why Selena will remain a legend for generations to come.”

Selena released her debut album back in 1989 and went on to have a successful career in music, acting, and fashion. Unfortunately, she passed in 1995 at the age of 23.

Moisés Zamora will write the script for the series and executive produce along with Campanario Entertainment president Jaime Davila, Rico Martinez, Suzette Quintanilla, Selena’s father Abraham Quintanilla Jr. and Simran A. Singh.
