Now this may not really happen, but you have to admire the effort.
In the wake of the controversy surrounding Colin Kaepernick’s decision to sit during the National Anthem to protest against the injustices of African Americans.
Many people have been looking into the lyrics of the “Star Spangled Banner” and examining it’s meaning. Although we only acknowledge the songs first stanza, many believe that the songs third stanza may contain some racist remarks.
Not to mention that the songs composer Francis Scott Key was identified as a slave owner himself.
Nonetheless, according to XXL, a man by the name of Dero Anthony has started a petition to have the National Anthem replaced by the “Dipset Anthem” by Cam’Ron and Juelz Santana.
In the petitions description Anthony said, “The current National Anthem is BS.” He is looking to collect at least 10,000,000 signatures and has over 2,000 so far.
When Kaepernick spoke about what motivated him to take this stand he said, “I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color. To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.”
Roommates what song do you think would be a good National Anthem for our country?
