A Man Is Reportedly Stabbed To Death At A Maryland Popeyes

The Popeyes chicken sandwich made its official return on Sunday, and now an incident has reportedly occurred at a Popeye’s in Prince George County, leaving a man deceased following a stabbing.

According to Fox 5 DC, on Monday, Prince George County police say they received reports about a fight that broke out at the Popeyes location in the 6200 block of Livingston Road in Oxon Hill around 7pm.

Once authorities arrived, they found the victim in the parking lot suffering from stab wounds. He was taken to a local hospital where he, unfortunately, passed away.

Detectives are working to find a suspect and a motive for the stabbing. Sources told Fox 5 DC that the altercation was reportedly following an altercation that involved the chicken sandwich.

Late Monday, Jennifer Donelan, the PGPD Director of Media Relations said, “We have been able to determine, preliminarily, that this is related to the release of the sandwich here at this restaurant… this individual was in line specifically for the sale of the sandwich when another customer and he got into an altercation and that ended with the victim being stabbed outside of the business.”

Over the summer, the release of the chicken sandwich became extremely popular to the point that Popeyes had run out in all of its locations across the country. As we previously reported, prior to re-releasing the chicken sandwich this past Sunday, it was reported that the fast-food chain was looking to hire an additional 400 employees to deal with the demand for the chicken sandwich.

We’ll continue to keep you updated on this incident.
