It takes a brave person to stop an attack against a complete stranger, especially when it means risking your life. #Roommates, that’s what 27-year-old #BlainHodge did over the weekend in #Bakersfield, California, where an attack has left him seriously hurt and might have cost him the use of his right hand.
His heroism is being recognized after he reportedly jumped in front of a woman who was allegedly being attacked by a machete-wielding man, @FoxNews reports.
Hodge was in a #Starbucks when it went down Sunday. A woman ran into the store saying someone was trying to kill her. The woman was apparently panicked. She was yelling for help, according to Hodge’s friend Joe Harris.
Then a man reportedly walked into the store holding something in his hand and that’s when Hodge came to the woman’s rescue. Harris told the news station #KGET that everyone else ran away but Hodge ran to the action.
“He was like, ‘I’m going to stop this guy, regardless if I get stabbed or not. I can’t let this woman die,” said Harris of his friend.
Hodge was reportedly stabbed “many times” during the encounter and required close to 200 stitches. The woman also suffered injuries in the attack and is reported to be in critical condition.
A GoFundMe page was created for Hodge and he expects to recover for the next six weeks.
The suspect in the attack, identified as 31-year-old Robert Daniel Rivas, was reportedly charged with attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and resisting arrest.
#Roommates, what do you think of this man’s brave actions? Let us know!
