Future doesn’t fool with social media too often. The rapper keeps a few images on his Instagram page and pops in to post to his story. Often, his posts involve upcoming or recent performances, fit checks, and music artwork. Over on Twitter, Future might drop one line daily for a few days and then disappears from the platform for weeks. But on Wednesday (September 21), Future dropped by Twitter with what seems like shade for anyone speaking on his literal business.
“Unsuccessful people have no clue how success works,” Future tweeted.
Future Speaks On Selling His Catalog: “My Music Is My Art”
Yes, Future kept this message unspecific. However, his tweet comes just a day after news broke about a recent deal he made. According to Variety, Influence Media Partners cut Future a check for his publishing catalog from 2004 to 2020.
While the amount the artist received isn’t public yet, reports say the check was in the eight figures. In exchange, Influence Media made out with 612 of Future’s records. The deal reportedly includes popular tracks like Mask Off and Jumpman.
“I put everything into my music, and I wanted to make sure these were in good hands as I thought about the next chapter of these songs,” Future said. “I’m proud to partner up with Rene and the team at Influence Media and send a signal that this music has timeless value. My music is my art and these songs represent some of the most precious artwork of my career.”
Rene McLean, a founding advisor of Influence Media, also spoke on the deal–highlighting Future’s impact on the music scene.
“Future is a cultural icon. He continues to be a blueprint for impact and success in the music industry and has reinvented music in ways that no one has ever expected,” Rene said. “It is rare to find someone who moves music and culture at the same speed with his distinct vocal and melodic style. His prolific career and continued popularity more than 15 years into the game is a testament to his undeniable influence on the contemporary music and culture landscape. We’re honored to be partnered with him.”
