An all-new list of nominees has been announced as the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame prepares to induct their next class. Fans have the option to vote among a diverse list of artists that have made an impact in music throughout their careers.
Of this year’s nominees, Dionne Warwick, Lionel Richie, A Tribe Called Quest, and Eminem have been added to the ballot. In order to be eligible for a nomination, it must be at least 25 years since the artist released their first commercial recording. This is Lionel Richie, A Tribe Called Quest, and Eminem’s first year being added to the ballot. This is also Eminem’s first year being eligible for a nomination.
John Sykes, Chairman of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation said, “This year’s ballot recognizes a diverse group of incredible artists, each who has had a profound impact on the sound of youth culture. Their music not only moved generations but also influenced the sound of countless artists that followed.”
Aside from fan votes, inductees are also chosen by an international voting body of more than 1,000 artists, historians, and members of the music industry. Qualities such as the body of work, influence, innovation, style, and technique are considered when choosing the inductees.
