It looks like the wait is finally over, and J. Cole’s highly anticipated sixth studio album will be dropping as soon as next week.
For the past few days, J. Cole has been dropping hints via social media and leaving many fans to anticipate that something was on the horizon. However, things became more clear when he took to social media to share his album cover and release date.
He announced that “The Off-Season,” will be dropping on Friday, May 14th. The announcement was made on Tuesday, which also served as the 14th anniversary of his debut mixtape, “The Come Up.”
There has yet to be a tracklist shared, or any mention of any features, although J. Cole is known for going platinum without any features.
Last July he dropped his songs “The Climb Back,” and “Lion King on Ice,” which is set to appear on “The Fall Off,” which is another project that is scheduled to be released sometime soon.
J. Cole released his last full-length studio album “KOD” back in April 2018.
During his downtime, Cole was also placing his focus back on basketball. Another love that he’s expressed several times. As we previously reported, last year Master P. revealed that he spoke to J. Cole about his aspirations for playing professional basketball.
At the time he said, “When I talked to J. Cole, he was like ‘You know, big dog you did it. What do you think I would have to do to make it happen?'” “I said to get one of these NBA jerseys, it’s not gonna be easy. It’s gonna be a lot of hate, it’s gonna be a lot of people not believing in you but you know J. Cole — he got the right size, he in the gym!”
Shortly after, the Detriot Pistons extended an invite to J. Cole to try out for their team.
Now it looks like the countdown officially begins until some new music from J. Cole is released.
