Here’s a throwback fact for you! In 2008, a lawsuit was filed against Kim Kardashian and her siblings Khloe, Kourtney and Robert Jr. for spending coins that didn’t belong to them! Roomies, hold on to your mugs because this tea might be a little hot! Reports about this settled lawsuit recently resurfaced online. Sonja Norwood accused the Kardashian clan of running up her American Express card for over $120,000 in 2006 and 2007. Sonja is the mother and manager of singer Brandy Norwood.
The lawsuit requested the money be returned with a 10 percent interest on top. However, the case was dismissed and settled out of court in 2009, according to previous reports by People.
Apparently, Kim and Khloe worked for the Norwoods during the incident. The lawsuit stated that Sonja only authorized Kim to make one purchase on the card in 2004. The purchase was for items that fell in line with Kim’s job at the time as Brandy’s stylist. The lawsuit detailed that Kim passed the credit card number along to her siblings. Then, it was used to make unauthorized purchases including shopping trips at Dash and Smooch — two stores previously owned by the reality television family. The charges totaled to $120,636.
Sonja released a statement in 2008 where she said she had explored every option, even speaking to her family about the matter, before pursuing a lawsuit.
“After Ray J and Brandy urged me not to file criminal charges because of their prior friendship, I decided to afford the Kardashians an opportunity to resolve this matter without a lawsuit,” Sonja said in reports by People. “When the fraudulent charges were brought to their attention, they apologized profusely, and advised us, through their attorneys, that they would pay the debt in full. However, they have since reneged on that promise.”
Sonja continued on to say the Kardashians took advantage of her by using their two stores and others she’d never visited.
“I very much look forward to having the Kardashians account for their misconduct in a court of law,” Sonja also shared in her statement.
Roommates, what do you think about the Kardashian’s past extra curricular activities?
