Although we’re in a new year, one thing that we hadn’t quite left behind in 2020 is the COVID-19 virus. While many cities are going into shutdowns and announcing new COVID-19 restrictions, today, Baltimore Mayor Brandon M. Scott had enough of an attendee not wearing a mask during a press conference.
In a now-viral clip, Mayor Scott said, “Before we close and take a few questions, I wanted to address the mandates I put in place restricting in-person dining and activities that require you to remove your mask.”
During the conference, an unidentified man can be heard speaking loudly in the background. Mayor Scott took a brief pause to address the man by saying, “Hold on one second. Shorty, pull your mask up, man.” The man replied, “I ain’t gotta pull my mask up.” Mayor Scott responded by instructing the man to pull his mask up again.
This isn’t the first time Mayor Scott captured attention on the internet. We first shared his photo in December 2020 with him rocking an afro & fresh cut! Many took a liking to the 36-year old Mayor. The photo gained over 120k likes. There were so many reactions online following the video. One user on Twitter commented, “Pull your mask up shawty!” Mayor of Baltimore….. Brandon Scott for president 2024!!! Lol.” Another commented, “The newly elected Mayor of Baltimore is off to a fine start. This is how you remain connected to the common folk. You speak that universal language. #Yameen”
According to the Maryland Department of Health, there have been 289,758 confirmed cases of COVID-19 reported in Maryland. The statewide positivity rate is now 9.19%. Maryland has 5,913 deaths, 2,575,342 negative tests, and 9,388 patients have been released from isolation.
So Mayor Scott isn’t wrong for instructing his citizens to mask up. Want updates directly in your text inbox? Hit us up at 917-722-8057 or click here to join
