Yay Areeeeeea! Two of the Northern California’s rap legends will be facing off in the next “Verzuz” matchup! E-40 and Too Short have just been added to the bill right ahead of Christmas.
Bay Area natives can go ahead and gas up their scrappas and pull out the stunna glasses with no lenses now because the OGs are slated to go hit for hit on Saturday, December 19th at 5 p.m. PST/8 p.m. EST.
Between the two legendary rappers, there are hits on hits on hits that span decades. E-40, also known as “Forty Water,” hails from the city of Vallejo and Too Short will be reppin’ East Oakland.
This news comes as another Oakland native, Keyshia Cole, was expected to battle Ashanti Saturday but the much anticipated Verzuz battle was postponed until January 9th, 2021, after Ashanti revealed about two hours prior to the battle that she had tested positive for Covid-19.
Considering we don’t have much to look forward to these days, fans took to social media to voice their anger over the canceled battle.
I mean I was in the mirror gelling down my swoop and trying to find my Baby Phat jacket from high school when news broke that Ashanti contracted the virus.
She took to her Instagram account to go live to address disappointed fans and explain what happened. Just days before the battle, Ashanti was in Kenya but she assured fans she had been following safety protocols and was actually exposed to the virus by a relative.
There was still hope that she may participate in the battle from home, but as she continued on live, the official Verzuz team announced the new date for the battle.
Keyshia Cole then joined Ashanti on live to show her love and support, expressing that she was only interested in Ashanti getting better and that the women empowerment will happen next month.
In all seriousness, we hope Ashanti gets better soon and in the meantime, I’m about to go dumb for the one time before we bring 2020 to an end!
