Jaden Smith has never been shy when it came to expressing his opinion on critical issues within society. Jaden Smith is not only a rapper and actor, but also a philanthropic social activist who continually advocates for social and environmental change. Taking his activism to Snapchat, Jaden Smith will be launching his new series called “The Solution Committee” on the app.
Created to inspire and inform the youth to vote, “The Solution Committee” will premiere on Sept.21, a day before National Voter Registration Day. Alongside trying to encourage increased votership in younger demographics, Jaden Smith will also be collaborating with celebrity friends and other activists to discover how to effect criminal justice reform.
Jaden Smith has always demonstrated a solution oriented approach to injustices, donating water boxes to various communities in Flint Michigan in 2019 to assist with their water crisis. In the same year, Smith also launched the “I Love You” restaurant, a vegan food truck dedicated to feeding the homeless in downtown Los Angeles, California.
Now at only 22, Jaden Smith has made it his mission to inform his peers and age group about the significance of their vote.
“Historically, people between the ages of 18 to 23 have been less likely to vote,” Jaden Smith said in a statement. “This is because a lot of young people feel like they don’t have the information or know where to get it. This show is about educating the youth and making sure they feel empowered and ready to vote.”
Celebs who will be accompanying Jaden Smith will be Yara Shahidi, Lena Waithe, Hailey Bieber, Willow Smith, Common and more. The unscripted series is produced by The Smith’s production company, Westbrook Media.
According to Yahoo Entertainment, “All episodes of “The Solution Committee” will include swipe-ups at the end with links to let Snapchat viewers register to vote. Each episode will focus on one issue, highlighting a young activist working to help their community solve that problem.”
