It has been a few months since the unfortunate passing of Pop Smoke. Although his killers have not been caught just yet, his team has been working to keep his dream alive and give his fans new music.
Last month it was reported that his highly anticipated debut album was scheduled to release on June 12th. However, given the recent climate of things, and out of respect for the Black Lives Matter movement, the album has now been pushed back until July.
Pop’s manager Steven Victor took to social media to make the announcement and revealed that a new song will be released on June 12th instead of his full-length project.
Victor said, “Music is the tool of revolution. We have been watching, along with the rest of the world, as long overdue change starts to take root. We have seen Pop’s music become the soundtrack of the moment, unifying the masses.”
He continued, “Given recent events, we have decided to delay the release of his album out of respect for the movement. “Make It Rain” will be released this Friday, June 12th. The album will be released on July 3rd.”
As previously reported, Pop’s team released a statement letting fans know that they had every intention of continuing his legacy, and the start was the new music that would be released.
“Throughout the next year, we will be sharing new music, as we continue to build Pop’s legacy. In conjunction with his estate, we will be making formal announcements on his foundation and music projects,” the statement read.
