There is no doubt that Aretha Franklin and Patti LaBelle are two of the greatest vocalists to have ever graced a stage. During a recent interview with The Breakfast Club, Patti revealed that she and Aretha were planning to record a duet before her unfortunate passing last year.
Patti said, “We were supposed to do a duet before she passed, three months before she died, she called me and we talked, and we talked about back in the day. She used to remind me of times when we were in Detriot at the club.”
She continued, “I said, ‘I want to record a song with you.’ She said, ‘Let’s do it, Patti.’ She really wanted to sing a duet with me.”
She said they didn’t get the chance to come up with the concept of the song but said Aretha was excited about the record.
For years it has been rumored that Patti and Aretha didn’t always have a good relationship, but she killed those rumors and said they weren’t true. She also said the rumors about her and Diana Ross not having a good relationship wasn’t true as well.
However, she did say there were some other artists that didn’t get along with her. She decided not to name any names. but she did say there were some other well-known names that have dissed her throughout the years.
Aside from that, she also talked about the success of her food line. We all know a few years back she launched her line with her sweet potato pies. The brand eventually expanded from deserts to other things such as macaroni and cheese and dumplings.
