White House Press Secretary #SarahSanders is making headlines this morning after she apologized to the media for providing false information during a press briefing Tuesday about how many jobs Barack Obama created for African Americans during his time in office.
According to @USAToday, Sarah was out here telling alternative facts. She told reporters that Donnie “had created three times as many jobs for African-Americans as former President Barack Obama had during his entire eight years in the White House.”
Now y’all know media outlets didn’t waste no time pulling out the receipts from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. When Barack was in office he “helped create about 3 million jobs for blacks, about 15 times what Sanders claimed.”
“Correction from today’s briefing: Jobs numbers for President Trump and President Obama were correct, but the time frame for President Obama wasn’t,” Sanders wrote on Twitter. “I’m sorry for the mistake, but no apologies for the 700,000 jobs for African Americans created under President Trump.”
Sarah made the claim while trying to defend Donnie’s record on race. She said he had already tripled what Obama did in eight years for creating jobs for black workers.
“This President since he took office, in the year and a half that he’s been here, has created 700,000 new jobs for African-Americans,” Sanders said Tuesday during the briefing. “That’s 700,000 African-Americans that are working now that weren’t working when this President took place. When President Obama left, after eight years in office, he had only created 195,000 jobs for African-Americans.”
After the inaccuracy was pointed out the White House Council of Economic Advisers also apologized for the misleading claim.
