Roommates, get your popcorn ready, because #JamieFoxx is gearing up to be a superhero!
Jamie will be playing iconic comic book character #Spawn, who was known as CIA agent Al Simmons until he was left to die by his fellow Black Opps. Simmons woke up in Hell and was offered a second chance on Earth and acquired superhuman strength and speed. He also has the ability to teleport, shapeshift, and heal.
It turns out that Jamie has wanted to play Spawn ever since he played #Electro in #TheAmazingSpiderman2!
“A few years back I flew out to Arizona to meet the man behind one of the most incredible comic book characters in the universe, Todd McFarlane,”he told Deadline.
“He was taken aback when I told him with the enthusiasm of a young child that more than anything I wanted to put my name in the hat to embody his beloved character Spawn. I told him no one would work harder than me if given the opportunity, well the opportunity is here! I’m humbled and ready to transform.”
McFarlane says that his Blumhouse adaptation of Spawn will not be an origin story, because he’s “mentally exhausted from origin stories.”
Fun fact: In 1997, the character was adapted into a live-action film starring #MichaelJaiWhite and won two Emmys.
Roommates, are y’all here for the new Spawn?!
