Michael Jackson To Have A Street Named After Him In Detroit

It looks like the legendary Michael Jackson will have a street renamed after him in Detroit.

According to Complex, on Thursday officials announced that they would be honoring Jackson by naming a street after him.

Michael Jackson Avenue will be a renamed portion of Randolph Street in the city’s downtown theatre district.

The city will be honoring Jackson with the street name to commemorate the 50^th anniversary of the Jackson 5 signing a record deal with Motown Records.

A spokesman for the city said, “The Jacksons were among the first groups of black American performers to attain crossover status and went on to release hit after hit after hit.”

The official street renaming will take place on June 15^th during Detroit Music Weekend, which will also be headlined by Tito, Jackie, Marlon and Jermaine Jackson.
