In celebration of Women’s Day, McDonald’s will be showing their appreciation for women all over.
According to CNBC, the McDonald’s in Lynwood, CA caught the attention of many after the iconic McDonald’s symbol was turned upside down. Many thought it was a prank, but McDonald’s spokesperson, Lauren Altmi said the “M” would be flipped into a “W” in “celebration of women everywhere.”
“We have a long history of supporting women in the workplace, giving them the opportunity to grow and succeed, said Altmi. “In the U.S. we take pride in our diversity and we are proud to share that today, six out of 10 restaurant managers are women.”
Many people can expect to see the McDonald’s logo changed on all of its social media platforms, and 100 restaurants will carry special “packaging, crew shirts and hats and bag stuffers.”
Wendy Lewis, the chief diversity officer for McDonald’s said, “For the first time in our brand history, we flipped our iconic arches for International Women’s Day in honor of the extraordinary accomplishments for women everywhere and especially in our restaurants.”
“From restaurant crew and management to our C-suite of senior leadership, women play invaluable roles at all levels and together with our independent franchise owners we’re committed to their success.”
