The story of Mariah Carey’s rise to fame will soon appear on our television screens.
According to Deadline, Starz is developing an untitled fictional scripted drama series based on the singer’s real life experiences during her rise to stardom. Mariah Carey will serve as the show’s executive producer alongside, Brett Ratner.
Based on the show’s synopsis, the Nina Coleman written series will be set, “in 1986 New York City and chronicles the rise of an ambitious bi-racial 16-year-old girl, an aspiring singer-songwriter who survived a difficult childhood to become the biggest selling female music artist of all time.”
Mariah Carey released her self-titled debut album in 1990 and went on to release 13 other albums. She spent some time on camera when she starred in her E! reality show, “Mariah’s World,” which debuted in 2016.
Colman will also serve as the show runner and executive producer along with Mariah, Stella Bulochnikov, Teri Weinberg and Brett Ratner.
