Back in December many people were shocked to see Kanye West visit Donald Trump at the Trump Towers in New York City. He later took to his Twitter to explain that he went to visit Trump to discuss multicultural issues.
It was no secret that many artists have declined to perform at the upcoming inauguration. However, many people inquired why Kanye wasn’t presented as a possible choice.
According to Complex, Tom Barrack, a longtime friend of Donald Trump and the chair of his Presidential Inaugural Committee revealed why Kanye will not be performing at the inauguration.
He said, “We haven’t asked him. He considers himself a friend of the President-elect, but it’s not the venue. The venue we have for entertainment is filled out, it’s perfect, it’s going to be typically and traditionally American, and Kanye is a great guy but we just haven’t asked him to perform. We move on with our agenda.”
Now of course people on Twitter had a their opinions about Barrack’s statement. One person said, “Hip hop was invented in America and Kanye is from the Midwest. Sounds typically American to me.”
