A new development in the Irving Plaza shooting involving Brooklyn rapper Troy Ave has just taken a surprising turn.
Hip-hop personality Taxstone was arrested in connection to the shooting, the NY Daily News reports. Apparently authorities wanted to book the 31-year-old, whose real name is Daryl Campbell, on a federal weapon possession charge. He was apprehended this morning by the U.S. Marshals New York, Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force, and NYPD without incident.
No further information on the arrest was made available but the Brooklyn native’s name has been brought up before in connection with the shooting as the alleged instigator of the whole thing. Word on the street was Tax and Troy have been beefing for some time and even went back and forth on Twitter. There were unconfirmed reports that suggested Tax initiated the fight that led to the shooting.
Taxstone, who is also known for his Tax Season podcast had already served four years behind bars back in 2008 after being hit with attempted criminal possession of a weapon and attempted robbery charges.
Troy Ave, had been charged for the Irving Plaza shooting that took place during a T.I. concert that led to the death of his bodyguard last year but plead not guilty. He is currently out on bail but it didn’t stop shooters from attempting to take his life a second time last month.
We will definitely keep you updated on the story.
