Late last month Sevyn Streeter was supposed to sing the National Anthem at the Philadelphia 76ers game as they played against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
However, the organization didn’t allow her to perform because she was wearing a jersey that said, “We Matter.” She quickly voiced her disapproval on social media and received support from tons of people.
The 76ers organization quickly issued an apology, and offered her an invitation to return to perform the National Anthem, and it looks like she has accepted.
According to Billboard, both Sevyn and the organization have agreed on a date for her to return to perform. In a statement released on Saturday, it was stated that she will wear her same jersey that reads, “We Matter,” as she performs at their December 16th home game against the Los Angeles Lakers.
The team statement read, “After thoughtful conversation, the 76ers and Sevyn Streeter have worked together to develop a plan we hope will bring meaningful action in the Philadelphia Community.”
The 76ers have also announced that they plan to make a donation to the Boys and Girls Club of Philadelphia.
