Today is Nia Long’s 46th birthday, and the actress and still thriving with her acting career.
It was recently announced that she has landed herself a recurring role on the new Netflix series, “Dear White People.”
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Long will play the role of Neika Hobbs, “a Winchester University African-American studies professor who is whip-smart and confident but whose pulled-together professional life contrasts a more complicated personal one.”
The show is based off of the 2014 film, “Dear White People,” which starred Tessa Thompson, Tyler James Williams and Teyonah Parris. “Dear White People,” centers around a group of diverse African American students, who deal with the racial tensions at a predominately white ivy-league college.
Long will be joining, Logan Browning and Brandon Bell, who will reprise his role as Troy from the film.
The film was written, directed and co-produced by, Justin Simien. He will write and direct several episodes for the series, and Yvette Lee Bowser will executive produce, along with Stephanie Allain and Julia Lebedev, who were also a part of the film.
